Micro Agression Version 2.0

Are you tired of this topic yet? Too bad I am not. In fact I have been talking to every person I know about it trying to understand and get a better feel of it. After all I do not have school aged kids to draw information from.

An on that note ...

I have been informed that my theory of it being a responce to the sports inclined having an advantage in school is erronious due to the fact that direct violence to the geeks, etc. is frowned upon by the student body as a whole.

So I took another leap.

Why would very intelligent young adults feel the need to impose such difficult relationships on each other? Why make communication, which is third hand really, so much more difficult? (communication is done by words, words are symbols of ideas, thus you recieve an idea third hand due to translation)

Could they being attempting to teach something? If they are attempting to teach us fossils of a by gone error; what could it be?

If they are teaching and that is their end game then I can only assume (hey we all know what that saying is) that they are trying to highlight the left over issues that are ingrained into our society, but we can't seem to shake. Issues such as racism or the repression of any social group. After all that is what most of the Mirco Agression addresses; I ask where you are from, you take it as an implication that you do not belong because you can claim some protected social class.

Or perhaps are they trying to show us exactly how sensitive these topics are by taking the reaction to any percieved minute action to the extreme?

Maybe they are just bored? Perhaps the educational system is failing our future by not allowing our future to access information at the speeds they can process it?

A Sports Society?

I have been reading a few articles, blogs and the such on the new micro-aggression thing taking over colleges.

Micro-aggression for those who are not familiar is in short terms the use of language to exclude or belittle a person. Asking a person of a different ethnic background where they are from could be seen as a Miro-aggression as it implies that the person is not from America or the local area, thus does not belong.

Now why did I label a post the way I did and start with Micro-aggression?

Sports are all about competition. The pitting of one's self against another or the pitting of a group against another group using rules to govern what is acceptable and what is not acceptable or fair play.

Sports encourage winning, or gaining one more point over the opposition. This is a game of "one up" is something that those who enjoy and excel at sports become exceptionally good at and drag into their every day lives.

Sports encourage defensive and offensive thinking; if I do this then the results could be that and planning for both in an attempt to get your opponent to show a weak spot. This game of "gotcha" is again something that those who excel and enjoy sports become exceptionally good at and bring into their every day lives.

Now I am not saying that competition is wrong or evil, but look at who makes the most money in our society and gets the most attention. No longer is it the artists. No longer is it the scientists. For the artist and scientist mind is not geared toward these games of "one up" or "gotcha" in fact those minds would be sorely hampered and harmed by the prevalence of those games for they do not naturally think in those lines.

Perhaps this new generations insistence on enforcing Micro-aggression social rules is a result of the above? After all I know from my own long out dated experience in high school that the schools catering to the "jock" mentality was detrimental to those of the intellectual and artistic mind set.

Perhaps this is coming out the way it is because the up and coming generation recognises America's need to be innovators again and this was the only way they could as a group without discrimination possibly support those that would be innovators?

Or perhaps this is a cry for an actual civilized society, instead of one ran by highly intelligent animals.

Either way its gonna reek havoc on day to day communications and cause even more of a gap between the generations.

All Joking Aside

I have always wondered why people feel the need to mock others? Mimic I get, people do some rather amusing things and copying allows a reliving of the moment. But to Mock? I know it is a power play, maybe that is why. Could it be that the person doing the mocking felt that they had lost control of something important and the only way to attempt to regain control is thru belittling the person they lost control to?

deamons, vampires and zombies oh my

was having an interesting conversation, ok i was talking my head off, and stumbled on this idea.

What was the biggest fictional evil character in the middle ages, demons {or one of many}. What was the next biggest fictional evil character, vampires. Now what is the biggest craze, zombies.

Make Deamons and Evil spirits viruses and batceria. Make vampires taxation. what does zombies represent?

It really shows a very interesting thing. We have evolved from war on nature, but it has not gone away. To warring on each other. A divided class system at that.

Human beings have for the longest time used fiction to portray an abstract or difficult idea. Only now it is interesting to note that the Zombie shows and movies have survivor characters that are similar to the leaders in society today, or well in a fundimental level. These survior characters also embody what has been classified as desireable and undesirable traits. Characters with desireable traits are given certain advantages and disavantages as are the characters without desirable traits. 

What is interesting is that this is all known, its how writing is done, but with the studies done on Sesame Street it brings it to a whole new light. 

I will say no more, but i would suggest reading about the studies done on learning from Seseame Street.

The Right Thing

It struck me recently something absolutely hilarious; most people want to do the right thing, yet as a race i do not think we can decide on what the right thing is!

You have the Jewish, who use the Torah as a means to determine what is right and wrong. What can be eaten, etc.

You have the who knows how many Christ followers who use their Bible to determine what is right and wrong. Then some decide to throw in a few bits as well.

You have the Islamic who have the Koran as a measure that also provides insight in how to handle other life issues as well.

Buddhism and Tao, i am not familar with their religious texts, but they seem to have the simplest method of determining right and wrong. If it harms it is wrong, but yet just about every choice you make will harm some one or something.

So is there an actual right and wrong? Is it all subjective?

Take for example death. In America taking another's life is wrong, punishable by imprisonment or death. I can understand the want or need to take bad genes out of the available pool for reproduction, but does killing a killer make you the better person?

Americans consider it cruel to allow an animal to suffer, yet justified to allow another human to suffer if they meet certain criteria. That criteria ranges from gay to poor to just unfortunate, after all the person "must" have done something wrong to deserve the suffering. But I ask you; the child with cancer did he or she who was born with it do something wrong in the womb? How could he or she have done anything? What about the virtuous spouse stricken with AIDs from an unfaithful spouse? Should we force such a person to endure a horrible slow death? Is it wrong?

While adversity builds character should someone have to suffer god awful amounts of pain for us to feel justified in our life, beliefs or other random cognitive function? After all if one made ones pets live in the conditions we allow our weakest to live one would be accused of abuse and neglect.

Money

Money
It is said that it is the root of all evil. Yet money was developed as a means to ease trade by establishing an equal means and more portable means of trade. Has it made it more equitable?

Dating

A good friend of mine recently pointed out why chicks/women are so crazy. They(we) have to be. Otherwise women would never agree to go for long walks on a moon lit beach or out after dark alone with a guy. Because really think about it, those things are crazy and insanely risky for the vast majority of women due to their being physically smaller and weaker than men.

It truly is amazing that dating happens when you think about it like that.
